Lonely mountains roads and highlands, curvy roads in Bosnian forests, rocky and gorgeous Montenegro, mysterious and friendly Macedonia, warm water of Adriatic sea, old little places with still traditional life and hospitability, all this lined up in an exciting 2000 kilometers route that will make you love this places forever. Old Serbian city in Herzegovina, considered as one of most beautiful. Surrounded by high and rocky mountains which were used as natural fortifications during the history. Mixed European and Otoman architecture and cuisine and all that accessible by exciting and good quality roads.
visegrad
Old bridge on river Drina in the city of Visegrad, Bosnia, 40kms from our base. Built in 1577 still stays one of must see places on Balkans. You can have a time on boat through Drina river canyon, and after that walk through Andric City nearby, or have a lunch break in some national restaurant.

DAY 01
ARANDJELOVAC – DIVCIBARE – ZLATIBOR
320 km
Our journey starts in Belgrade, and we will explore it after we get back.
Traditional coffee out of the Belgrade, bikes are warm, the adventure has just started.
Ride through Sumadija, central Serbia. Narrow roads, green hills, quiet households, lonely cafes.
Aradjelovac, Ljig, Rajac places in central Serbia, authentic easy life and nature. Just enjoy.
Now the mountains start.
Climb to Divcibare Mountain, where we’ll have a lunch…super lunch, as usual.
Then through plateau Tometino Polje, introduction to mountain roads, down to Pozhega and Uzice.
Now up to Zlatibor Mountain, where our first night will be. After traditional dinner, only walk will help us to digest it properly.
DAY 02
TARA – DRVENGRAD – VISEGRAD – SARAJEVO
220 km
After breakfast, our ride starts with great road to Tara Mountain and hidden Racha Monastery.
Short gravel road will bring us to west part of the Tara National Park, to curvy and narrow road straight to deepest artificial lake on Balkans Zaovine where we will have short break.
By another good gravel road and over the main Tara mountain ridge, we reach Drvengrad – modern Ethno village in old Serbian architecture style in the middle of mountains where we’ll have coffee break.
Straight to Vishegrad in Bosnia by amazing mountain road in order to visit famous old stone bridge from 15th century and built from scratch old city Andricgrad where we will have a lunch.
Then we’ll ride along small Pracha River and from that point our little off road section begins – route goes over old dismantled rail road line with lots of tunnels and perfect scenery.
Our final destination for this day is Sarajevo.
Famous Bosnian cuisine – special recipe kebabs, pitas and kajmak will be our main goal for this day.
DAY 03
MOSTAR – BILECA – TREBINJE
290 km
After we wake up and have our first breakfast, we’re going to hang around in old city center just to check what’s up there, to have traditional coffee and chat with locals. Then the second breakfast should come.
Pita with cheese or potatoes, maybe kebabs again, and we are back on bikes.
Nice asphalt roads thru Bosnian endless mountains, river canyons and forests will lead us to Mostar – city on Neretva River, famous for its old stone bridge, narrow pedestrian streets and traditional food.
After good portion of history and food, we will ride great roads over rocky and gorgeous Hercegovina highlands towards city Trebinje which is our destination of this day.
Local vinery will be our host for this night.
DAY 04
HERCEG NOVI – KOTOR – BUDVA – ULCINJ
180 km
First day at Adriatic sea.
We will visit Budva, Kotor, Perast and Herceg Novi – main Montenegro coast old cities with all that narrow and rocky architecture. All of them are really worth visiting.
All day Adriatic Sea will be accompanying us. What could be more philosophic then off season coast ride?
Few stops along route for coffee, taking pictures and tasting of olives and traditional cheese.
The most south point in Montenegro – Ulcinj city will be our destination in this day.
DAY 05
NO RIDING, JUST CHILLING ON THE COAST
REST DAY
Large sand beach.
Dinner at Bojana river close to Albanian border.
DAY 06
SKADAR – PODGORICA – NIKSIC – ZABLJAK
260 km
Breakfast and coffee on the coast, what could be better?
Ride day starts on the Adriatic coast, but shortly we’ll start to climb into mountains to places near Skadar Lake close to Albanian border.
Skadar surroundings bring us back to history, when peace and war were things like coffee machine today.
There we decide upon wishes whether we continue through Montenegro outback or get back down and ride the coast. Excellent road through highlands, ride by few lakes, on the East of Montenegro again and city Zabljak where out next night will be.
Stay for this night is booked on Zabljak authentic cottages, nice mountain place for recover and reconsider to all you’ve seen that day.
DAY 07
PRIJEPOLJE – UVAC – GOLIJA
270 km
This day is for relaxing ride and less rocky surroundings than we had previous days. But nothing less scenery and exciting, you have my word.
On our way we can visit Milesheva monastery, have a lunch in restaurant with its own fishery, then take a look at canyon Uvac famous for its gorge and colony of griffon vultures .
Through places traditionally famous for raspberry production, we will climb to mountain Golija and stay till tomorrow in the mountain cottages at 1100 m altitude.
DAY 08
STUDENICA – KOPAONIK – NIS
395 km
After breakfast, we will ride a little gravel section to monastery Studenica, built in XII century and under UNESCO protection.
Then our route will lead us near the river Ibar and we climb up to Kopaonik mountain, famous ski resort and National Park. (2000m)
Our final destination of this day is City of Niš.
This night we’re going out for few beers and fun. Very popular rock club in city center is main goal and night to remember.
DAY 09
ZAJECAR – NEGOTIN – KLADOVO
220 km
Back on a saddle after long night out. Slow roads close to Bulgarian and Romanian border. This is how everyday Serbia looks like.
Final destination of this day is city of Kladovo – small city on a left side of river Danube.
DAY 10
DJERDAP – GOLUBAC – BEOGRAD
290 km
From Kladovo to Belgrade thru is a gorge on the river Danube, called “The Iron Gates”.
Once again, a lot of perfect places for taking a photo which will be “one of hundred perfects”.
We can call this day “one more day with perfect roads and scenery” on our way to Belgrade.
